Lip tattooing will improve the size, shape, colour and definition of your lips. Due to aging, lip filler and cold sores, we can lose colour in our lips - especially in the border of our lips. Lip tattooing will bring your lips back to life. Lip tattooing adds beauty, convenience, as well as confidence!

WHAT IS THE PRICE?

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR LIP TATTOO

  • Drink 2 litres of water daily from 2 weeks prior - you must be well hydrated.​

  • Lightly exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub, then apply bepanthen "nappy rash" every day morning and night from 1 week prior.

  • NO botox or fillers less than 1 month prior.

  • NO alcohol, coffee or any kind of caffeine 48 hours prior.

  • NO antibiotics 2 months prior.

  • NO exercise on the day of your appointment.

  • NO fish oil or vitamins 1 week prior.

  • NO aspirin or ibuprofen 48 hours prior.

  • NO sun damaged lips.

  • If you have experienced COLD SORES in the past, you need to be taking preventative medication daily for 5 days leading up to your appointment and the day of your appointment.

 

YOUR APPOINTMENT

At your first sitting we will discuss your desired colour and shape. Once we both agree on the colour and shape, Lottie will then take your before photos. Lottie will then clean your lip area and begin the drawing process. The drawing process can take up to 30 minutes. Once you are 100% happy with the shape, Lottie will then mix up the colour/s chosen and begin the tattooing process. The tattooing process can take up to 2.5 hours. Lottie will then run you through the aftercare instructions and take your after photos. This sitting is a total of 4 hours.

Once your tattoo has completely healed (6 weeks later), you will come in for your second sitting. Lip tattooing is a 2 step process. This sitting is where we see how well the pigment has held and we can slightly adjust colour and shape if needed. This sitting is a total of 2.5 hours.

AFTERCARE

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes - avoid a hot steamy shower/bath until peeling is complete (6 days).

  • Do NOT get your tattoo wet for 6 days.

  • Do not wash your hair for 6 days.

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away - picking can cause scarring and loss of colour.

  • NO licking of dry skin and flakiness.

  • Do NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

  • NO application of any lip makeup for 1 week

  • NO spicy foods during the first 24 hours.

  • NO activities that will cause sweating for 6 days.

  • NO direct sun exposure or tanning for 1 week.

  • NO massages, facials or skin treatments for 2 weeks.

  • NO facial cleansers on the treated area for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 6 days.

  • NO facials, botox or chemical treatments for 4 weeks.

  • If you have experienced COLD SORES in the past, you need to ensure that you are taking a preventative medication every day for the next 5 days. Please seek advice from your doctor/pharmacist.

HEALING GUIDE

  • DAY 1 \\ Your lips may be swollen, this should settle within a few hours/next day. The colour will look bright and bold.

  • DAY 2 \\ Your tattoo will look bold. Your lips may feel sun burnt.

  • DAY 3 \\ Your lips will start to feel dry and may start peeling.

  • DAY 4 \\ Your lips will be in the peeling stage.

  • DAY 5-6 \\ Peeling should almost be complete. The top layer of your skin has healed. Your skin is still in the healing stage, therefore you will not see true colour until week 6.

  • DAY 45 \\ Your skin has completely healed!

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LIPS ONCE HEALED

  • Protect your tattoo with sunscreen whilst in the sun.

  • Avoid using chemical exfoliants on your lips.

  • Avoid laser treatments near your lip area.

  • Additional lip products may still be required post procedure to achieve your desired look. Lip blush tattooing should look natural and add a flushed look, It may not replace lipstick.

HOW DO I PAY?

A fixed deposit of $135 is required to secure your first booking. The remaining fee is paid on the day of your appointment via cash, mastercard or visa. We do offer afterpay in store.

 

HOW LONG DOES LIP TATTOOING LAST?

Lip tattooing generally last between 1-10 years however, traces of pigment may always remain in the skin. 12-24 month refreshers are recommended to maintain the colour and shape of your lip tattoo.

 

DOES LIP TATTOOING HURT?

The pain level for lip tattooing varies between clients. Cosmetic tattooing can be a little uncomfortable for those who are more sensitive. The majority of our clients have said the pain level is 2/10.

 

HOW MANY SITTINGS WILL I NEED?

Lip tattooing takes 2-3 sittings to complete. Please do not judge your healing journey to a friend's as everyone heals differently. The amount of sittings needed will depend on the individual.

 

CAN I BRING CHILDREN/GUEST TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Unfortunately the studio is not child friendly. Due to occupational health and safety requirements, only the technician and client can be in the room at all times. Please attend your appointment alone.

LIP TATTOOING IS NOT SUITABLE IF:

  • Taking blood thinning medication

  • Skin condition/s eg. Psoriasis/Eczema on the area being tattooed

  • Hepatitis/HIV/STD

  • Sun damaged lips

  • Heart conditions/using heart medications

  • Diabetes, please seek advice from your GP

  • Skin disease or irritations

  • Severe allergies/allergies to hair dye/ink

  • Pregnant/breast feeding/planning pregnancy

  • Medical condition/s, please seek advice from your GP

  • If you have cancer, you must be 6 months past your last chemotherapy, please seek advice from your GP

  • Tendency to keloid

  • Autoimmune disease, please seek advice from your GP

  • Covid vaccine/any other vaccine - must wait 4 weeks before tattooing

  • Accutane/strong acne medication - must wait 1 year before tattooing

  • Retinol and vitamin A - must discontinue 1 month prior

  • Antibiotics - must discontinue 2 months prior

  • Dark pigmented lips

  • If you have experienced COLD SORES in the past, you need to be taking preventative medication daily for 5 days leading up to your appointment, the day of your appointment and for 5 days post treatment. Please seek advice from your local chemist or General Practitioner GP

  • If you suffer from anxiety: Please consider carefully if this is something for you as the process takes a good 12 weeks to be completed and can be an anxious wait as the tattoo is not perfected until after the healing of the second or third sitting.
